Customer Reviews
The program loaded easily (despite a long delay when it looked as if nothing was happening) and converted my family data file (from an earlier version of the program) without a hitch. Once it was up and running the program was very easy to use - adding new individuals or changing existing information is straightforward. One thing I liked is that once you have selected a 'home person' (which can be yourself or anybody else) then any time you click on another individual within your tree, it shows you the family relationship between the two. No matter where you are in the tree, you can return to the home person by clicking on the little house icon on the menu bar. Changing the home person is done by two mouse-clicks - very efficient.
One star is deducted because you are limited to a horizontal pedigree layout on screen - if you want a vertical layout or a descendant display then you have to request a report which is formatted for printing. This means you can't click on an individual's name to see that display from their point of view but have to go back to the work screen first. The information is still available; it just takes an extra couple of steps.
I can't comment on the free membership of the ancestry website as I didn't try it, but even without this, the program is excellent value for money.
If you have had this product before i wouldn't recommend it it doesn't have half the facilities of the previous versions is less user friendly and generally more difficult to use :-(( i loved the old version!
