Product Description

Manufacturer's Description
Poser Pro 2012 provides the fastest way for professional artists to create content and render 3D character images and animations from Poser scenes. COLLADA support enables Poser content integration with game engines and other 2D/3D tools. Fully 64-bit native and optimised for multi-core systems, Poser Pro 2012 saves time by efficiently using system memory and processing resources. Poser Pro 2012 creates rendered images and animation with 3D characters—or integrates ready-to-use 3D characters in any project.
Get Started Fast
Drag and drop characters and props right onto the Poser virtual stage to create 3D scenes, add lights and cameras, and render away.
Rendering Styles
The Poser FireFly rendering engine and flexible node-based material system will transform any 3D scene you’ve created into photorealistic, cartoon or sketch style images and animations. Supports subsurface scattering, indirect light, gamma correction and physically accurate lighting.
Customise Characters
Start with one of the many included ready-to-pose 3D characters and customise them using your photos, or hundreds of face-shaping morphs, to produce unique characters in minutes.
3D Characters For Any Project
Create art or animation for graphic design, web, fine art and illustration projects. From comic books and animated shorts to architectural and industrial design, Poser adds character.
Animate Easily
Poser keyframe animation tools make it easy to transition between poses, make a character walk or talk, throw a ball or even dance. Every element in the Poser scene is animatable with layers, user selectable transitions, editable graph displays, and constraint channels.
Auto Lip Synch
Poser’s TalkDesigner automatically creates animated talking characters from any imported spoken word file. Poser characters are constructed with full visemes to support animated speech.

    Customer Reviews

I'm very impressed by this edition of Poser. Frustrated by the changes in DAZ Studio 4, I decided to try out Poser Pro 2012. As someone who used Poser many years ago, the interface feels very familiar and comfortable (although newcomers to the software will take some time to get used to the quirks). One of the advantages of the interface is its tabs can be ripped apart and reconfigured on the screen the way you want it. The Content Management is good, once you run a PNG converter utility to get thumbnails from your old content libraries, and once you boost the thumbnail size. These are changes Poser should have introduced years ago, and they make finding and handling content so much easier. You can also do keyword searches, and make per-project folders of "favorites". The viewport renders in real-time using somewhat jaggy OpenGL, although you will wait 20 to 30 seconds to get this view when switching from an outline to a shaded preview. Once you are in the OpenGL view you can move the camera around and the viewport updates instantly in real-time. The OpenGL is of a better quality (shadows-wise) than that in DAZ, but DAZ can do it in real-time without the jaggies. However, for real-time animation work you'll still want iClone 5 - Poser Pro's OpenGL is no substitute for a proper game-engine. Poser loads all your DAZ content, and some old stuff that only works with Poser or that "looks wrong" in DAZ. It also apparently supports DAZ's new Genesis range of characters, although quite how it does this I have yet to investigate. The other thing I noticed was Collada DAE export (it's much like the FBX export from DAZ) which may make getting textured Poser-only content to iClone easier than before. You can output to layered PSD Photoshop files, although the handling of shadows is not great. Poser has also learned from iClone's project files, and introduced a new "scene" file type which bundles all lights, props, characters, best render settings, etc from a vendor into a "one-click-to-load" solution. Documentation and help is excellent, in contrast to DAZ Studio. I found Poser 2012 was fast, but it put a substantial load on my system - this is probably not software that most people will be able to run at the same time as something like Photoshop. Background rendering is good though, and you can render while going off and surfing the Web without any system slowdown. Overall, this update puts Poser back in the game, and about time too. In many ways Poser Pro 2012 is now a significantly better choice for 3D graphics devotees than the more expensive versions of DAZ Studio, especially with Poser's wonderful sketch mode.

Found it very clumsy to use and struggle to find DAZ models in libraries. In fact I've gone back to Poser 7 which is much more user friendly. Do I regret buying it, I'm afraid a big YES. All in all very disappointing.
