Nik HDR Efex Pro is certainly the best HDR program currently available but whether it is worth twice the price of its most popular competitor is debatable. This software gives a very extensive range of controls over the HDR image and the facility to use control points to vary the strength of effects on selected parts of the image is a valuable feature. Unless you want grotesque images (and some people do), then apply the effects subtly. I find that, for most scenes, taking 5 exposures 2 stops apart is sufficient and then combine them in HDR using one of Nik's more subtle pre-sets to provide a starting point for more detailed work.
