I have used this product for several years now and I have no plans to change this. What bothers (and amuses) me a little each year is Symantec's renewal policy. At the end of the license period a window warning me that the license is about to expire pops up each time the computer is started. With a few clicks you can renew the license for about £50. However the same product can be bought on Amazon for £17,99 including shipment of the CD to Denmark. I'm sure that customers that did the renewal and then find out about this will feel absolutely ripped-off.

I actually haven't bought Norton Internet Security 2012, but rather updated my 2011 version which I installed in May of this year. Well to be honest I was most impressed with both the 2010 and 2011 versions which have shed the heavy processor image that Norton was infamous for. An from the looks of things this latest iteration continues with that low processor usage. Upgrading was relatively a very simple affair, I logged into my Norton account (Which you have to activate when you initially load the program) and simply clicked the upgrade program icon. It was simple as that.
The control panel has had a revamp and is easier to use. (Not that the old one was any problem) I ran a full scan and my 4 year old computer (Dual core Intel /Windows Vista/150Gb HD) completed it in around 30 minutes. Now that was a first scan, which usually takes a long time, so most impressed with that.
This version offers a few thing I didn't notice with the 2011 version. Mobile protection for your Android phone. However clicking on the button simply whisks you away to the Android market where you can download the lite version of the program for free (Naturally The full mobile phone version you have to pay for)
It also includes a link to an internet backup service, however that too has to be paid for and honestly you'd be better off purchasing a portable hard drive, however that would entail copying your HD contents over on a regular basis. Something the average person will not do.Another nice touch is the inclusion of a start up manager, which allows you to disable those pesky programs which feel that they have a right to be included in your computer start up thus slowing your computer up something awful. (A little bit easier to use than MSCON) The scan offers to check your computers reputation (It has a root round to see how safe it is over the net) and a face book reputation , seeing as I don't use FB I haven't a clue what that entails. There are a good few other safety provisions, but to be honest anybody who takes the time to look after his/her computer won't need them. (Seeing as most Browsers provide the same services) But if you want to know what they are, have a look at the main page for NIS 2012. They are all listed there.
Myself , I really happy with the 2012 version, Ok it helps that I got the 2012 version as a free upgrade. But hey keeping your customer happy, entails they come back for more. which is why I have no problem rating this as 5 stars.
